“Turns out, music was just one thing I didn’t suck at”- SZA 2017 Rolling Stone Interview
SZA’s sultry vocals were hypnotizing on her long-awaited debut album Ctrl. We listened as she offers up a raw and unfiltered outlook on love, life, and self. Often feeling like a tug of war between cocky and needy. Each of us falling more in love with her magnetic energy.
All and all she hit the mark. It’s clear that The Divine Feminine energy SZA stands in throughout Ctrl will resonate with future generations of young Black women, if not all women. Making it a given choice for one of our favorite albums of the decade.
